Fort Marcy third for Lucullan

Lucullan finished third in the nine-furlong G3 Fort Marcy Stakes on firm turf at Belmont Park, USA, on Saturday, 5 May.
The Kiaran McLaughlin-trained four-year-old Hard Spun colt was well away and settled in sixth on the inside of the nine runners by Danny Cohen.
He progressed to fifth on the far side and kept on strongly to take third, one and a half lengths behind the winner Robert Bruce. The winning time came to 1m 47.56s.
Kiaran McLaughlin commented: “Lucullan ran well – we will have to look at how he comes out of this race before making plans.
“He bounced back to form after not liking the turf surface at Fair Grounds in late March.”
