Talismanic and Cloth Of Stars ran well to finish second and third, separated by a short-neck, in the 12-furlong G2 Prix Foy at Longchamp, France, on Sunday, 16 September.

They finished two and a half lengths behind Waldgeist, who showed a better turn of foot inside the final furlong to win in 2m 28.70s.

Cloth Of Stars, ridden by Vincent Cheminaud and Talismanic, the mount of Mickael Barzalona, raced in third and fourth of the six runners.

Cloth Of Stars kept on the inner and challenged in the straight, hitting the front briefly with a furlong and a half remaining, but was soon headed by Talismanic, who cruised up on the outside but could not resist Waldgeist in the closing stages. They both kept on well. All three horses are trained by Andre Fabre.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin reported: “We were pleased with both Talismanic and Cloth Of Stars.

“Talismanic was probably not a 100 per cent fit even though this was his second race back – he should come on for the race.

“There is a question mark about whether he truly stays a strongly-run mile and a half. He may still go for the Arc (G1, 12f, Longchamp, 7 October), but we will consider all the options.

“This was a first run back for Cloth Of Stars and he should be spot on for the Arc again (second last year).”
