Cloth Of Stars ran a wonderful race again in the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Europe’s middle-distance highlight, at Longchamp, France on Sunday, 7 October.
Last year the son of Sea The Stars was the excellent runner-up to Enable in the Arc, beaten two and a half lengths, and this year he closed the gap on Enable, going down by just under a length in third.
The five-year-old horse, trained by Andre Fabre and ridden by Vincent Cheminaud, was held up in mid-division, racing in 10th of the 19 runners.
He weaved his way through the field in the straight to challenge a furlong and a half out and ran on to take third, a short-neck and three quarters of a length behind Enable and the second Sea Of Class.
It was another tremendous performance in the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe over a mile and a half – the winner’s time came to 2m 29.24s on good turf.
Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: “Cloth Of Stars has run an absolute blinder for the second year in the Arc and finished closer to Enable this time.
“He has again shown his class and acceleration, and run a super race. Andre has primed him perfectly for the race.
“We are incredibly proud of Cloth Of Stars.”
