Frosted lines up against American Pharoah for the fourth time this year in the highlight of the Breeders' Cup meeting, the US$5-million Breeders' Cup Classic, over a mile and a quarter at Keeneland, USA, on Saturday, October 31.

The Kiaran McLaughlin-trained three-year-old has yet to beat this season's US Triple Crown winner but ran excellent races to finish fourth in the 10-furlong G1 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands at Churchill Downs on May 2 and take second in the 12-furlong G1 Belmont Stakes Presented by Draftkings on June 6.

Frosted also finished behind American Pharoah as the pair filled the places in the G1 Travers Stakes over a mile and a quarter at Saratoga on August 29, which was won by Keen Ice.

The Godolphin colt captured the nine-furlong G1 twinspires.com Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct in April and warmed up for the Breeders' Cup with a smooth two-length success under a hands and heels in the G2 Pennsylvania Derby over the same distance on September 19.

Frosted tackles nine rivals with Keen Ice, nine-time G1 winner Beholder and dual G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup victor Tonalist also in the field alongside American Pharoah.

Kiaran McLaughlin said: "Frosted has improved with every race and every day of training. He has never been better and drew well in stall three.

"American Pharoah is obviously the one to beat but we hope that his last race might catch up with him a little bit, especially with all of the travelling.

"I hope that Frosted can have a great trip. Ideally, we would like him to stalk the lead in fourth or fifth and save some ground.

"Tonalist and Honor Code will be picking up the pieces late but this track might not be the same as Belmont, where you can come from last. The track is quite new at Keeneland but it doesn't appear favourable to deep closers.

"Frosted has handled every course he has ran at, with the exception of one off-day at Gulfstream and will handle Keeneland without a problem.

"It's a very tough group of horses and I would be more worried about Tonalist and Honor Code rather than Beholder, who was winning impressively against lesser fields but has a bad draw and doesn't run great outside of California.

"I am hoping that Beholder goes with American Pharoah and puts some pressure on - the ideal situation would be to have those two in front of us.

"Frosted will run very well and I think that he will run his best race to date. Whether that is good enough or not, we will find out."
