Frosted steps back down in class and trip for the Grade Two Pennsylvania Derby, worth US$1 million, over nine furlongs on dirt at Parx Racing, USA, on Saturday, September 19.

The three-year-old colt, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, kept on well to finish third behind Keen Ice and American Pharoah in the Grade One Travers Stakes over a mile and a quarter at Saratoga on August 29.

He went down by half a length to Texas Red at the same course in the nine-furlong Grade Two Jim Dandy Stakes on August 1 and was also second, beaten five and a half lengths by American Pharoah, in the Grade One Belmont Stakes over a mile and a half at Belmont on June 6.

Frosted stayed on well to take fourth in the Grade One Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands over a mile and a quarter at Churchill Downs on May 2 and cruised to a two-length success in the nine-furlong Grade One Twinspires.com Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct on April 4.

Joel Rosario, who missed the ride on Frosted in the Travers Stakes due to injury, is back in the saddle.

Kiaran McLaughlin reported: "It seems like the more we do with Frosted, the better he gets. He came out of the Travers Stakes in great shape and has been training well.

"We are backing up a little quick but this is the last chance for him to run against his own age and it's nice that American Pharoah is not turning up.

"We should be favourite and rightfully so."

Frosted, drawn three, meets nine rivals including Travers Stakes fourth Upstart, West Virginia Derby winner Madefromlucky and Los Alamitos Derby scorer Gimme Da Lute.
