Future Empire kept on well in the closing stages to finish second in the Group Three Bahrain Trophy over a mile & five furlongs at Newmarket, UK, on Thursday, July 9.
The Saeed bin Suroor-trained three-year-old, third over two miles on his previous start in the Listed Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot, broke smartly and soon settled in third of the five-strong field.
He was joined by Monotype with three quarters of a mile left and was niggled along by James Doyle three and a half furlongs out. Future Empire stayed on to go second approaching the final furlong and battled away to go down by two and a half lengths to Mr Singh, who made all to win in 2m 42.99s on good to firm ground, with a length and a quarter back to the third Tommy Docc.
Saeed bin Suroor said: "Future Empire ran well in the Queen's Vase and this was another step in his development. He is improving.
"There is no plan for him but certainly a mile and six furlongs is likely to be the distance of his next race. We will get him home and see how he is before making plans."
John Ferguson, Bloodstock Advisor to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, added: "Future Empire is a nice horse who is progressing all the time. He is probably the kind of horse who will be better next year when he has filled out his frame. "
James Doyle was very happy with him and that is all that matters. "He has almost run better today than he did at Ascot, although that was his trip."
