G1 Champagne third for Enticed

Enticed ran an excellent race on his second start, finishing third of 12 in the G1 Champagne Stakes over a mile on dirt at Belmont Park, USA, on Saturday, October 7.
The two-year-old Medaglia d’Oro colt, winner of Saratoga maiden on his September 4 debut, broke OK and soon progressed to race in second under Junior Alvarado.
But then Enticed lost his place, dropping back to fifth on the far side, and was ridden when turning in. He went to sixth after straightening up, but then rallied and kept on well to gain third, beaten three and a half lengths by Firenze Fire whose time came to 1m 35.91s.
There was a neck back to the fourth Kowboy Karma, with the fifth over five lengths further in arrears.
Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin commented: “Enticed ran very well in this G1.
“He did not have a real smooth trip - he chased the leader, but was then behind horses turning in.
“He galloped out strongly in the straight and is a really nice colt. I don’t have plans for him at the moment. We will see how he is and then discuss what to do.”
