Game Gazelle second for Sara Street

Sara Street nearly made all on her G2 debut in the Gazelle Stakes over nine furlongs on dirt at Aqueduct, USA, on Saturday, 7 April.
The three-year-old Street Sense filly, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin and ridden by Dylan Davis, was well away and took the six-strong field along at a good pace, going 23.97s for the first quarter-mile.
She was challenged turning for home but still maintained a narrow lead and then it was ding-dong in the straight between her, My Miss Lilly and Virginia Key.
My Miss Lilly edged a half-length ahead in the closing stages, with a gutsy Sara Street holding second place by a neck from Virginia Key. The winning time came to 1m 50.42s.
Kiaran McLaughlin commented: “Sara Street ran great – we were happy with her performance.
“She was maybe a little unlucky to get beat. We’ll have talk about what’s next for her as there are a number of options.”
