Zaman makes his European return in the G2 Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen, the German 2,000 Guineas, over a mile at Cologne, Germany, on Monday, 21 May.
The three-year-old colt made two appearances on turf at Meydan, UAE, during this year’s Dubai World Cup Carnival.
He was the comfortable winner of the mile Listed Meydan Classic on 1 March, after coming home a close second in the seven-furlong trial for the race on 8 February.
Zaman showed a high level of form in the UK last year, including victories over six furlongs at York and Pontefract, and ran well when fourth in the G2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket in July and runner-up in the G2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood the following month, both at seven furlongs.
His trainer Charlie Appleby commented: “Zaman ran some good races as a two-year-old and carried that form out to Dubai for the Carnival, where he won the Meydan Classic.
“The step up to a mile looked to suit him last time out and we have had this race in mind ever since.
“His preparation has gone very well and conditions should suit.”
Zaman, with William Buick in the saddle again, faces nine other three-year-olds in the Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen including French G2 winner Fighting Irish plus Kronprinz and Weltstar, who were first and second in the G3 Dr Busch Memorial.
