It began with the filly Pearls at Randwick on August 20 and has built into a winning sequence that reflects the depth and breadth of the Godolphin team along with the stable’s global philosophy.

On each of the 11 weekends since Pearls won the G3 Toy Show Stakes, a runner carrying Godolphin’s royal blue silks has won at least one Stakes race in Australia – and most weeks it has been more than one.

The run has included the G1 victories of Hauraki in the Epsom Handicap and of Hartnell, a day later, in the Turnbull Stakes and the magnificent performances of Astern that culminated in his G1 Golden Rose win.

Overall, the sequence has yielded 18 stakes wins on city tracks and four midweek stakes wins at non-metropolitan venues and has involved 16 different horses.

While most of the winners have come from the stable of head Australian trainer John O’Shea, the sequence also includes the outstanding victories of the English visitors Qewy in the G3 Geelong Cup, Francis Of Assisi in the G3 Bendigo Cup and G3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Oceanographer in the G3 Lexus Stakes.

At Saturday’s Sandown meeting the sequence is set to be stretched to 13 consecutive weekends of Group or Listed wins with a strong Godolphin representation from the stables of John O’Shea, Lee and Anthony Freedman and Charlie Appleby.
