Haafaguinea gamely repelled the challenge of Silent Bullet as Saeed bin Suroor saddled the first two home in the 10-furlong IPIC Trophy Handicap on turf at Meydan, UAE, on Saturday, February 28.
Five-year-old Haafaguinea, a handicap winner over the same course and distance on January 15, was smartly into stride for William Buick and disputed the early running before settling in second behind Snow Squall after two furlongs.
He was pushed along entering the straight and stayed on strongly to take the advantage over a furlong from home.
Silent Bullet, who raced in mid-division of the 12 runners under Harry Bentley, was switched out wide and ran on strongly in the straight to challenge Haafaguinea entering the final half-furlong.
But the four-year-old could not get on terms with Haafaguinea, who rallied to score by three-quarters of a length in 2m 3.17s on good turf, with Elleval a further neck back in third.
Saeed bin Suroor said: "This was Haafaguinea's second win at the Dubai World Carnival this year and we are looking forward to bringing him back to Newmarket for a summer campaign in England.
"He is a tough horse, who always tries, and I have been very happy with his form out in Dubai.
"Silent Bullet ran a good race to finish second. He also tries very hard in his races and is in good form at the moment."
