Steady Pace ran on to come home second in the Group Two Arqana July Stakes over six furlongs at Newmarket, UK, on Thursday, July 9.
The two-year-old colt, trained by Saeed bin Suroor and ridden by James Doyle, was smartly into stride before being held up in mid-division of the nine runners.
He took closer order approaching the two-furlong pole and quickened strongly to go second and challenge just inside the final furlong.
Steady Pace continued to make good headway but could not quite get to grips with the winner Shalaa, who scored by a length in 1m 11.19s on good to firm turf, with third Elronaq a further two lengths back in third.
Saeed bin Suroor said: "Steady Pace ran very well and I am pleased with him.
"We have the option of stepping up to seven furlongs with him, possibly at Glorious Goodwood.
"He is a nice horse and should progress again."
