Tribal Beat acquitted himself well on his Pattern debut with a good second in the seven-furlong G3 Killavullen Stakes at Leopardstown, Ireland, on Saturday, October 24.
The two-year-old colt, trained by Jim Bolger and ridden by Kevin Manning, was smartly into his stride and soon led the seven-strong field.
He found more when challenged by Black Sea entering the home straight but could not repel Blue De Vega, who took up the running entering the final half-furlong before going away to score by three and a half lengths in 1m 33.09s on ground described as good, good to yielding in places.
Jimmy Hyland, Godolphin representative in Ireland, said: "Tribal Beat ran a nice second - the ground was probably a little soft for him but the winner is a very good horse.
"He would have been closer on better going but Jim Bolger was very happy and he should progress next year."
