Ladies Day & Newman go for G2 success at Aqueduct

Tom Albertrani sends two-year-olds Ladies Day and Newman to try for G2 honours on dirt at Aqueduct, USA, on Saturday, November 26.
Ladies Day lines up in the nine-furlong Demoiselle Stakes (14.20hrs local time) following an impressive victory in a Belmont Park dirt maiden over three furlongs shorter on October 16, when she scored by six lengths on her second start after finishing runner-up on debut.
Mike Luzzi, in the saddle at Belmont Park, takes the ride on the daughter of Bernardini, who faces eight other juvenile fillies, headed by Aqueduct G3 scorer Miss Sky Warrior and G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies fifth Jamyson ‘n Ginger, from stall eight.
Tom Albertrani commented: "Ladies Day was very impressive when winning her maiden and we have some high expectations of her this weekend.
"It will be her first time racing over two turns but she should be able to get this trip based on her pedigree and the way she ran last time out.
"We feel pretty confident of her staying and hope that she can repeat her latest run."
Newman also steps up in class and trip for the Remsen Stakes (15.20hrs), over nine furlongs, following two placed efforts in dirt maidens, going down by half a length by You’re To Blame in a mile contest at Belmont Park on October 15 after finishing third over six furlongs.
The Bernadini colt, with Joel Rosario in the saddle again, tackles nine rivals from stall two, including G1 Futurity Stakes fourth No Dozing, eight-length debut winner Takaful and You’re To Blame.
Tom Albertrani said: "Newman was narrowly beaten last time out and, even though he lost, he still looked pretty impressive.
"We feel that he has enough talent and potential to fit well in this race."
