Impressive maiden winner Libreta steps up to G2 level for the Matron Stakes over six furlongs on dirt at Belmont Park, USA, on Sunday, October 18.
The Tom Albertrani-trained two-year-old filly made all of the running for a very comprehensive victory under a hands and heels ride from Luis Saez, who partners the filly again, in a dirt maiden over six and a half furlongs at the same course on September 27.
The daughter of Girolamo came from the rear to take third in a Saratoga dirt maiden over a furlong shorter on debut on August 23.
Tom Albertrani commented: "Libreta has been training extremely well since her maiden win and we are very confident that she should run a big race.
"It was a very impressive performance on her latest start, when she won quite easily, and we are hoping that she will take another step forward on Sunday."
Libreta, drawn six, meets five other two-year-old fillies including G1 Del Mar Debutante Stakes runner-up Pretty N Cool, plus Constellation and Tonasah, who were third and fifth in the G1 Spinaway Stakes.
