The three-year-old Bernardini colt raced a close second to Runhappy, who made all, but the winner increased his advantage turning for home and went further ahead in the straight, winning by three and a half lengths in 1m 21.76s.
Marking, having his third start, kept on to be a clear second, a length and three quarters ahead of the third Lord Nelson.
Jose Lezcano commented: "Marking never quit and he tried hard the whole way - there is more to come from him."
The other Godolphin starter, Watershed (Kiaran McLaughlin/Joel Rosario), was held up before trying to challenge in straight, but could offer no more inside the final furlong, finishing fifth of the seven runners.
