Maverick Wave makes his Group One debut in the Arlington Million XXXIII over 10 furlongs at Arlington, USA, on Saturday, August 15.
The four-year-old colt, representing John Gosden, made virtually all of the running for a brave half-length success on his first Pattern appearance in the Group Three Betfair Huxley Stakes over an extended mile and a quarter at Chester, UK, on May 7.
He ran several good races on the All-Weather in the UK over the winter, including when scoring by 10 lengths in a Polytrack handicap over 10 furlongs at Chelmsford City on March 28.
Maverick Wave also gained two further 10-furlong handicap wins on Polytrack at Lingfield Park as well as finishing a good fifth in a Listed race, also over a mile and a quarter, at the same course in February.
William Buick rides the son of Elusive Quality for the fifth time.
John Gosden commented: "Maverick Wave has travelled well to Chicago.
"There was rain forecast and there is still a possibility of some on race day late in the afternoon - at the moment the ground is firm and he would prefer some cut.
"He is drawn wide which is not a great help, but I will leave the tactics to William who has won the race for me before with Debussy in 2010 ."
Maverick Wave, in stall 11, lines up against 12 rivals headed by Big Blue Kitten and Slumber, who were first and second in the Grade One United Nations Stakes, and Grade Two winner Triple Threat.
Sulamani captured the Arlington Million for Godolphin in 2003.
