Nash second on G3 debut in Lecomte Stakes

Nash finished behind Track Phantom for a second successive time as he filled the runner-up spot in the G3 Lecomte Stakes at Fair Grounds, USA, on Saturday, 20 January.

The duo had previously met over the same course and distance in December’s Gun Runner Stakes, when Track Phantom comfortably beat Snead with Nash back in third.

After breaking smartly, Nash pressed for the early lead before settling in a length second behind Track Phantom heading into the first turn.

Nash attempted to close on Track Phantom approaching the home straight, but the Brad Cox-trained colt was unable to apply any real pressure on the leader.

The Godolphin colt stuck to his task for Florent Geroux in the closing stages, seeing off Lat Long to finish a clear second.
