Frosted came home the easy winner of the Grade Two Pennsylvania Derby, with prize money of US$1 million, over nine furlongs on dirt at Parx Racing, USA, on Saturday, September 19.

The three-year-old grey colt, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin and partnered by Joel Rosario, was slightly squeezed when the field broke from the stalls and taken back to race on the inner in fourth.

The son of Tapit was settled in fifth before smooth headway with a half-mile remaining saw him go into third.

Making further progress turning in, Frosted went to second and led as they straightened up.

He ran on well to beat Iron Fist by two lengths, with the pair at least another eight lengths ahead of the remainder of the field.

The winning time was 1m 50.04s.

Kiaran McLaughlin said: "It was a great performance today and Frosted went super.

"I was happy to have Joel back on Frosted and he did not have to use the whip.

"Frosted ran huge and was very impressive. He will go for the Breeders' Cup Classic (Grade One, US$5 million, 10f, Keeneland, October 31, dirt) next."

Frosted had been racing at the highest level previously. He kept on well to finish third behind Keen Ice and American Pharoah in the Grade One Travers Stakes over a mile and a quarter at Saratoga on August 29.

He went down by half a length to Texas Red at the same course in the nine-furlong Grade Two Jim Dandy Stakes on August 1 and was also second, beaten five and a half lengths by American Pharoah, in the Grade One Belmont Stakes over a mile and a half at Belmont on June 6.

Frosted stayed on well to take fourth to American Pharoah in the Grade One Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands over a mile and a quarter at Churchill Downs on May 2 and cruised to a two-length success in the nine-furlong Grade One Twinspires.com Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct on April 4.
