Beyond Reason continued a bright start to her career with a brave nose victory in the G3 Prix Six Perfections over seven furlongs at Deauville, France, on Saturday, 28 July.

The Charlie Appleby-trained two-year-old, fourth over the same distance in the Listed Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot on 23 June, was slightly awkward leaving the stalls but soon recovered to settle in a close fourth of the eight runners on the inside rail.

She was angled out by Tony Piccone to deliver her challenge over a furlong and a half from home and quickened well to go second shortly afterwards.

Beyond Reason gained a narrow advantage inside the final half-furlong but was strongly pressed by Devant near the line, with the Godolphin filly prevailing in a photo finish to win in 1m 25.73s on good to soft ground.

Charlie Appleby commented: “Beyond Reason is a nice filly and I am delighted to see her win a G3 contest.

“We felt that she hit the front a bit too soon in the Chesham Stakes, when she still ran well to finish fourth, so we told Tony Piccone to come with a late run today. He has given the filly a great ride.

“We will give her a bit of time to strengthen up and could come back to France later in the season for the G3 Prix d’Aumale (1m, Longchamp, 9 September).”
