Pretty Mischievous picked up another G1 placing this season when taking third behind Randomized and Idiomatic in the Ogden Phipps Stakes at Saratoga, USA, on Saturday, 8 June.
Last year’s Champion Three-Year-Old Filly, who had also finished third on her seasonal return in the G1 La Troienne Stakes, was rousted leaving the stalls to dispute third on the inside of Idiomatic.
Idiomatic made her move around the leading duo of Randomized and Tizzy In The Sky turning in, with the Brendan Walsh-trained Pretty Mischievous quickening up the inside to briefly dispute the running at the top of the straight.
Randomized rallied to regain a clear lead shortly after and went on with Idiomatic entering the final furlong. Pretty Mischievous shifted out under pressure but kept on for Tyler Gaffalione, crossing the line four and a half lengths behind the front two.
Brendan Walsh said: “I think Pretty Mischievous ran well enough. Tyler said she could have benefitted maybe from a little more pace. It looked like they weren’t going very fast, and I don’t think that really helped. She was down inside for a long time. But we can’t make excuses. Hopefully, she comes out of it OK. We’ll adjust a few things and we’ll come back to fight another day. She’s running in the best of company, and she is the best of company. We got a placing, which is good, and we’ll go on to the next one.”
