Romsdal returns to Epsom Downs, UK, on Saturday, June 6, for the Group One Investec Coronation Cup over a mile and a half.
The four-year-old colt ran a superb race to take third over the same course and distance in the premier British Classic, the Group One Investec Derby, 12 months ago and went on to finish second in the Group One Ladbrokes St Leger over an extended 14 furlongs at Doncaster in September.
John Gosden's charge has made three appearances so far this year, most recently when coming home fourth on good to firm ground in the Group Two Betway Yorkshire Cup over a mile and three-quarters at York on May 15.
The son of Halling was third, again on good to firm going, in the 12-furlong Group Three Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise Stakes at Newbury on April 18 and made a winning start to his campaign with an easy win in a 10-furlong Polytrack Listed race at Kempton on March 28.
John Gosden said: "Romsdal handled the track at Epsom Downs well in the Derby last year but it would be a concern if the ground dried out.
"We will walk the course on Saturday before deciding whether he runs or not."
William Buick takes the ride for the fourth time on Romsdal, who faces five rivals headed by Dubai Sheema Classic heroine Dolniya and Hong Kong Vase winner Flintshire, who was second in the 2014 Investec Coronation Cup.
Godolphin has won the Investec Coronation Cup with Daylami (1999) and Mutafaweq. (2001).
