Lightly-raced Sentiero Italia drops back down in class and trip for the Grade Two Maker's Mark Lake Placid Stakes over nine furlongs on turf at Saratoga, USA on Friday, August 14.

The three-year-old filly, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, kept on to dead-heat for fourth of 14 alongside Strict Compliance in the 10-furlong Grade One Belmont Oaks Invitational Stakes on turf at Belmont Park on July 4.

She gained two easy turf successes earlier in the year, scoring by two lengths in a mile allowance race at Belmont Park on May 28 and posting an all-the-way victory over a furlong further in an Aqueduct maiden on April 19, after making her debut at Gulfstream Park on March 11.

Joel Rosario rides the daughter of Medaglia d'Oro for the first time.

Kiaran McLaughlin commented: "Sentiero Italia is doing very well and is training great.

"She was a little unlucky in the Belmont Oaks, when she was caught very wide throughout the race.

"There might not be as much pace this time with a smaller field, so we may have to adjust our style a little bit and she could be near the lead.

"We expect her to have a big chance."

Sentiero Italia opposes four three-year-old fillies including Miss Temple City, who was fourth in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, Strict Compliance and American Oaks third Consumer Credit.
