September Stakes Win Helps Put Jack Hobbs Right

Jack Hobbs was the easy winner of the totescoop6 September Stakes over 12 furlongs on Polytrack at Kempton Park, UK, on Saturday, September 5.

Jack Hobbs was the easy winner of the totescoop6 September Stakes over 12 furlongs on Polytrack at Kempton Park, UK, on Saturday, September 5 and is now ready to head to Europe's most valuable race, the Group One Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp, France, on October 4.

The three-year-old Halling colt, trained by John Gosden and ridden by William Buick, triumphed by three and a quarter lengths after being eased down in the closing stages.

The impressive winner of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby raced in last as the stalls opened but soon took second on the outside behind Aussie Reigns who set a steady pace.

Jack Hobbs cruised up over two furlongs out to take the lead and went clear in the final furlong before coasting home. The winning time was 2m 35.01s.

John Gosden reported: "I hadn't done a lot of work with Jack Hobbs and he was fresh down to the start, but in the race William managed to switch him off and get him relaxed.

"Jack Hobbs got a lovely lead round and was just lobbing. That was important.

"There's no reason why we won't go to France for the Arc and he has won well today.

"He has run well and we were happy to get a nice prep race at home, rather than going to France and then travelling over there again.

"I think he is an improving horse and, like his father, he will get better at four and five."
