Inns Of Court was the easy winner of the six-furlong G3 Prix de Ris-Orangis at Maisons-Laffitte, France, on Sunday, 15 July, his first attempt at that distance.

The four-year-old Invincible Spirit colt had previously raced over seven furlongs or a mile.

He was beaten a short-head in the mile G1 Jacques le Marois at Deauville in August last year.

The Andre Fabre-trained Inns Of Court was held up in last of the nine runners towards the stand’s’ side by Mickael Barzalona.

Inns Of Court was asked to improve with two furlongs remaining and came with a storming run up the stand’s rail to hit the front well inside the final furlong.

Running on strongly, he won easily by two lengths from King Malpic in 1m 10.55s on good to soft going.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin reported: “The decision to drop Inns Of Court down to six furlongs has paid off handsomely and we liked what we saw from him this afternoon. He has an excellent turn of foot and came into this race in good form at home

“The easy victory opens up a lot of possibilities for Inns Of Court, which could include the Prix Maurice de Gheest (G1, 6f 110y, Deauville, August 5).

“We will see how he comes out of the race and discuss all the options.”

Inns of Court has triumphed in five of his 10 races, including three G3s.
