Star Of Mystery stormed through most of the field in the straight to take a never-nearer second in the G2 Franklin Stakes at Keeneland, USA, on Sunday, 13 October.

Bidding to follow up her win in July’s G3 Quick Call Stakes at Saratoga, the Charlie Appleby-trained three-year-old lacked some of the early speed of her rivals and found herself in ninth of the 12 runners after a furlong.

She was shuffled further back to last rounding the home turn and still had nine horses in front of her when Future Is Now took up the running from Stone Silent entering the final furlong.

Star Of Mystery unleashed a late burst under Flavien Prat, collaring Pandora’s Gift and Stone Silent for second close home to go down by three-quarters of a length to Future Is Now.
