Godolphin enjoyed good results on the first day of the Qatar Goodwood Festival, with two winners and three runners-up on Tuesday, July 26.

John Ferguson, Godolphin's Chief Executive and Racing Manager, commented after Best Solution, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, provided the second victory in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing EBF Stallions Maiden over six furlongs.

He said: "I was very impressed with Best Solution and think he is a horse with a future - Saeed has done a great job with him.

"We need wins for our two-year-olds but ultimately we want to be thinking about their careers as three and four-year-olds, so they don't need too much racing.

"Thunder Snow finished fifth in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and put up a good performance today when second in the Vintage Stakes (G2). He is a well-bred horse by an exciting young stallion (Helmet) and he is another one who will be a lovely horse next year, though if we can win a Group race along the way with him this year there will be no harm in that.

"I was also delighted with the third Boynton as well. He looked today that he will get a mile and was giving 3lb to the winner. Both our horses performed with great credit.

"I was thrilled with Dutch Connection's win in the Lennox Stakes (G2), while Home Of The Brave ran well in second.

"There was a really good pace and one of the jockeys described the race to me as having a G1 feel. Home Of The Brave came through and looked dangerous while Dutch Connection picked up in the way of a really good G1 performer - so we have two exciting horses there.

"A Breeders' Cup Mile could really suit Dutch Connection and he has stud career ahead of him so we really need to win a G1 in Europe with him. We will try and do that before going to America.

"Qewy is such brave horse - he was beaten a head at Royal Ascot and then a neck today - he has run so well. With two winners and three seconds, it has been a good start to the week."
