Three-year-old fillies Comedy Queen, Local Time and Good Place run in the UAE 1000 Guineas Trial Sponsored By DP World UAE Region over seven furlongs at Meydan, UAE, on Thursday, January 15. All race on dirt for the first time.

Comedy Queen (Charlie Appleby/William Buick) quickened well to score by a length on her only start in a Polytrack maiden over the same distance at Kempton Park, UK, on September 22.

Local Time (Saeed bin Suroor/James Doyle) won twice on the Polytrack at Kempton Park last year and ended her juvenile campaign with a brave neck victory on turf in the seven-furlong Group Three TriConnex Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket on October 4.

Good Place (Saeed bin Suroor/Dane O'Neill), a dual winner on turf last year, steps down in class and trip after fading to last of seven in the Group One Dubai Fillies' Mile at Newmarket on October 17.

Charlie Appleby commented: "Comedy Queen did well to win on her debut at Kempton and progressed physically since then. We wanted to bring her out to Dubai because she is by Distorted Humor and she has been training well on the dirt.

"She has a bit to find on the form book but conditions should suit her."

Saeed bin Suroor said: "Local Time is a nice filly and is in good form at the moment. She will be fine over seven furlongs and I have been happy with her preparation.

"Good Place needs further than seven furlongs but this is a nice way to start her season. She ran against some very tough opposition in the Dubai Fillies' Mile and I am looking for a better run this time."

The Godolphin trio face six other fillies including South African challenger Ad Idem, German Listed runner-up Runner Runner and Norwegian challenger Icecapada.
