True Story Heads To Al Rashidiya

True Story bids for a second consecutive win at Meydan, UAE, in the Group Two Al Rashidiya Sponsored By Emirates Global Aluminium over nine furlongs on turf on Thursday, January 29.

The Saeed bin Suroor-trained four-year-old was eased in the closing stages for a convincing victory on his seasonal return in the Listed Singspiel Stakes Presented By Longines Conquest Classic Gents over the same course and distance on January 8.

He raced in the UK last year and ended his campaign with an excellent second to Al Kazeem in the 10-furlong Group Three 188Bet Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor in August.

The son of Manduro was fifth in the Group One Coral-Eclipse, also over a mile and a quarter, at Sandown Park in July and finished seventh in the 12-furlong Group One Investec Derby at Epsom Downs in June.

He came home a close third in the Group Two Betfred Dante Stakes over an extended mile and a quarter at York in May and gained a comprehensive victory in a nine-furlong Newmarket Listed contest the previous month.

James Doyle, who partnered True Story to victory in the Singspiel Stakes Presented By Longines Conquest Classic Gents, takes the ride again.

Saeed bin Suroor commented: "True Story won well last time and came out of the race in good form. His latest piece of work went well and I am very happy with him.

"This is another step up in class and he is coming up against good horses but I am hoping for another good run."

True Story takes on five rivals including last year's Group One Jebel Hatta winner Vercingetorix, the 2014 Group One Al Maktoum Challenge Round Three runner-up Sanshaawes and last year's Al Rashidiya scorer Mujaarib.

Godolphin has won the Al Rashidiya four times, thanks to Sabadilla (2000), All The Way (2001), Naheef (2003) and Alexandros (2010).
