Watershed is out to improve on his impressive debut when lining up in the Grade One NYRA.com King's Bishop Stakes over seven furlongs on dirt at Saratoga, USA, on Saturday, August 29.

The three-year-old son of Bernadini, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, made a stunning first appearance when winning a six-furlong maiden easily at the same course by four lengths on August 7.

Joel Rosario, who was in the saddle on August 7, takes the ride again from stall four.

Kiaran McLaughlin said: "It is not the norm for the McLaughlin stable to run back in 22 days, going from a breaking maiden to a Grade One.

"However, the upside is so great and the downside is minimal, we thought we would give it a try.

"Obviously, we could have waited on an allowance race next month but we think Watershed is a very talented colt.

"If he did happen to win what it would be great for him, his sire Bernadini and the whole team, so it is worth a try. If he were to come home fifth or sixth, it is not the end of the world and he could then go back for an allowance race.

"He is a very nice colt and ran a huge race when he broke his maiden. He has a great mind and does everything right.

"He deserves a try at the King's Bishop Stakes and it won't hurt if we don't win."

The 10 other runners include Grade One Hopeful Stakes scorer Competitive Edge, plus Grade Two winners Holy Boss and March.
