Wholeness goes for breakthrough G2 in Nikkei Shinshun Hai

Admirably consistent mare Wholeness looks to secure an important first Graded victory in the G2 Nikkei Shinshun Hai at Chukyo, Japan, on Sunday, 19 January.

Trained by Hideaki Fujiwara, the daughter of Lope de Vega has won or placed on all seven career appearances and stayed on powerfully to take third on her latest outing in November’s G1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Kyoto.

Wholeness captured the Listed Niigata Himba Stakes at Niigata in October and produced another strong effort when third in Tokyo’s G3 Mermaid Stakes in June.

She is unbeaten in two previous visits to Chukyo, following up an allowance race success in December, 2023, with a Stakes victory in March.
