Alpen Rose secured G2 Black Type for a second time when chasing home unbeaten mare Jin Jin in the Badener Meile at Dusseldorf, Germany, on Sunday, 30 May.

The four-year-old filly, who was third in the 2019 G2 May Hill Stakes for Charlie Appleby prior to joining Henri-Alex Pantall last season, was held up towards the rear of the eight runners by Julien Guillochon.

Alpen Rose started to take closer order down the inside rail turning for home but had to be snatched up after finding herself short of room entering the final quarter-mile.

She soon recovered and quickened well between horses over a furlong out, getting up for second in the closing stages to come home two and a half lengths behind the all-the-way winner.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “Alpen Rose has run very well and finished her race off strongly. We will aim her at a similar sort of race in the future and hopefully she can pick up a Group contest at some stage.”
