Birr Castle grabs place prize money in G2 Prix Dollar

Birr Castle finished third in G2 company at Longchamp for a second time this season as he stayed on strongly from the rear in the Prix Dollar on Saturday, 5 October. 

The Andre Fabre-trained four-year-old, who filled the same spot behind Zarakem and Horizon Dore in April’s G2 Prix d’Harcourt, was held up at the rear of a tightly grouped field for much of the 10-furlong contest. 

Birr Castle had all six rivals in front of him approaching the final furlong before storming home under Mickael Barzalona to pip Calif for third in the shadow of the post, crossing the line four lengths behind Jayarebe and Almaqam.
