Marquisat made the frame in the G2 Prix du Conseil de Paris for a second consecutive year as he finished third behind Goliath and Hamish in the Longchamp feature on Sunday, 20 October.

Runner-up to Iresine 12 months ago, Marquisat soon disputed third of the six runners on the inside of Goliath as the duo tracked Maniatic and Hamish.

Monty crept up the inside rail halfway through the 11-furlong contest to relegate Marquisat to a close fifth, although the Andre Fabre-trained four-year-old was still very much in contention as the pace lifted approaching the final quarter-mile.

Goliath swept by the front two over a furlong and a half out, with Marquisat making headway after being switched out by Mickael Barzalona to take third from Maniatic approaching the final furlong.

Hamish rallied strongly, ensuring Goliath had to be kept up to his work to prevail by half a length, with Marquisat hitting the line well to finish just over a length behind the runner-up. Monty took fourth, a full six and a half lengths in arrears.
