Scottish makes his Godolphin debut in the G3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes over a mile and a quarter at Sandown Park, UK, on Thursday, May 26.

The Charlie Appleby-trained four-year-old enjoyed a progressive 2015 campaign that culminated with a neck success in the Listed William Hill Doonside Cup, also over 10 furlongs, at Ayr in September.

The son of Teofilo was runner-up to subsequent dual G1 winner Highland Reel in the 12-furlong G3 Neptune Investment Management Gordon Stakes at Goodwood in July and filled the same position behind Space Age in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot in June.

William Buick rides Scottish for the first time and they take on six rivals headed by G2 Shadwell Joel Stakes victor Time Test and G3 scorer Intilaaq plus last year's Brigadier Gerard Stakes winner Western Hymn.

Charlie Appleby said: "Scottish is very well and he had some good form as a three-year-old last year.

"We are hoping to use this race as a learning experience and a stepping stone for some more nice races over 10 and 12 furlongs during the summer.

"He has a bit to find on ratings with some of the field, but we felt that this was a decent starting point for his season. We are hopeful of a good run."
