Cloth Of Stars maintained his unbeaten record with an impressive victory in the mile Group Three Prix des Chenes at Longchamp, France, on Wednesday, September 9.

Cloth Of Stars maintained his unbeaten record with an impressive victory in the mile Group Three Prix des Chenes at Longchamp, France, on Wednesday, September 9.

The Andre Fabre-trained juvenile, successful in a newcomers' race at Deauville on August 22, was slightly awkward leaving the stalls but soon settled in a clear second of the four runners behind Sixth Sense.

He was asked to improve by Mickael Barzalona passing the two-furlong pole and quickened clear after taking the lead just inside the final furlong to score by a length and three-quarters over Vedevani in 1m 41.16s on good ground.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: "It was nice to see Cloth Of Stars win so well today. He is still very mentally immature but is progressing with each run and this should bring him on again.

"The Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (G1, October 4) will come under consideration. It depends on how he comes out of this race and what Andre Fabre decides. He is a horse with a decent turn of foot on good ground, which he might not get later in the season."

Cloth Of Stars is Godolphin's second winner of the Prix de Chenes following French Navy, who took the race in 2010.
