Emotionless tries to build on an exciting debut when he steps up to Pattern company for the Group Two At The Races Champagne Stakes over seven furlongs at Doncaster, UK, on Saturday, September 12.

The two-year-old Shamardal colt quickened strongly from the rear to take a Newmarket maiden over the same distance by three and a half lengths on August 7.

His trainer Charlie Appleby said: "Emotionless created a big impression when winning at Newmarket and the form of the race is working out well.

"We were very pleased with the way he put the race to bed and he has done all of the right things since.

"He is a colt that we like a lot and, while it is a big step up from a maiden to Group Two company, we hope that he will be bang there at the finish."

William Buick again partners Emotionless, who takes on six rivals including Ibn Malik and Palawan, who were second and third in the Group Two Vintage Stakes at Goodwood in July.

Godolphin has won the Champagne Stakes with Noverre (2000), Dubai Destination (2001), Almushahar (2002), Poet's Voice (2009), Saamidd (2010) and Outstrip (2013).
