Wild Illusion finished a close third in the G3 Prix d'Aumale for two-year-old fillies over a mile at Chantilly, France, on Sunday, September 3.

The daughter of Dubawi, a comfortable winner of a mile novice race on debut at Yarmouth, UK, on August 22,  raced in fourth of the five runners under James Doyle before moving up to a challenging position in the straight.

She went second and kept on well, despite dropping back to third close home. Soustraction won in 1m 37.88s on soft going, finishing a length ahead of Efadaah, with a further head to Wild Illusion and eight lengths back to the fourth.

Trainer Charlie Appleby declared: “Wild Illusion will have learnt a lot from today’s race with the first two meant to be the best juvenile fillies in France.

“She won very easily on her first start and we will see how much she comes forward for a much harder race.

“So again I am not making any immediate plans for her, but waiting to see how she is. I am expecting her to have a very good three-year-old career.”
