Lightly-raced Festive Fare steps up in class and trip for the Group Two King Edward VII Stakes over a mile and a half at Royal Ascot, UK, on Friday, June 19.

The Charlie Appleby-trained three-year-old kept on to finish fourth, beaten two and a half lengths, behind subsequent Investec Derby victor Golden Horn in the Listed Feilden Stakes over three furlongs shorter at Newmarket on April 15.

The Teofilo colt gained two victories over a mile on Polytrack, easily taking a Kempton Park handicap on February 18 and gaining a head verdict in a Lingfield Park maiden on debut on January 24.

Charlie Appleby said: "We were pleased with Festive Fare in the Feilden Stakes and purposely gave him a break afterwards.

"He is an immature horse and I am sure that he will keep progressing as the season continues. He's a work in progress and has plenty of scope.

"We have been very pleased with his preparation and the step up to a mile and a half will be interesting. He will stay the trip based on his pedigree but needs to settle, which will be key to his chances."

Festive Fare, the mount of William Buick for the third consecutive time, opposes six including Group Two winner Ol' Man River, Epsom Downs handicap scorer Stravagante and Listed runner-up Balios.

Mutafaweq (1999) and Campanologist (2008) have won the King Edward VII Stakes for Godolphin.
