French Navy, making his seasonal return, seeks a fourth consecutive victory in the Group Three Weatherbys General Stud Book Earl Of Sefton Stakes over nine furlongs at Newmarket on Thursday, April 16.
The Charlie Appleby-trained seven-year-old scored at the same course on his final start of 2014 with a neck success in the mile Listed Ben Marshall Stakes on November 1, a race he also captured in 2012.
He ran on strongly from the rear for a clear victory in the Group Three Investec Diomed Stakes over an extended mile at Epsom Downs in June and succeeded by half a length from Windhoek in a 10-furlong Listed contest at Goodwood in May.
French Navy was second in last year's Earl Of Sefton Stakes and has succeeded in two Group Three races, over a mile and 10 furlongs.
Charlie Appleby said: "French Navy is in great nick and has wintered well.
"He is showing all of his usual enthusiasm as a seven-year-old and looks fit and happy.
"He likes racing on the Rowley Mile and we are hopeful that he will put up another good performance."
French Navy, ridden by William Buick for the first time, opposes seven rivals including dual US Grade Two scorer Grandeur, Glory Awaits, who was second to Dawn Approach in the 2013 QIPCO 2000 Guineas, and last year's Investec Derby fourth Arod.
