Talismanic was caught in the closing stages when second in the G3 Prix d'Hedouville over a mile and a half at Saint-Cloud, France, on Monday, May 8.
The Andre Fabre-trained four-year-old was smartly into his stride and disputed the early running before taking a definite lead under Mickael Barzalona after a furlong.
Talismanic, kicked for home in the straight, went a couple of lengths clear with a furlong and half remaining but could not repel the challenge of Tiberian, who headed the Medaglia D’Oro colt inside the final half-furlong before going on to score by a length in 2m 35.44s on very soft ground.
The Godolphin contender finished a length and three quarters ahead of the third, Way To Paris, in the six-runner race.
Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: “Talismanic has ran another great race and was beaten by a better horse.
“There are no plans but Talismanic is in very good form at the moment and we will try and find a similar contest for him.”
