Casapueblo endured an early stumble and trouble in running when finishing a close third in the G3 Prix Greffulhe at Saint-Cloud, France, on Monday, 6 May.
The Andre Fabre-trained colt almost unshipped Mickael Barzalona leaving the stalls but recovered to race in third of the four runners, away from the inside rail.
Having taken second from Cornelienne entering the final half-mile, Casapueblo attempted to close on the leader Sunway turning into the straight. The Godolphin three-year-old wandered around two furlongs out before staying on to press Sunway passing the furlong pole, with Wootton Verni also joining in on his outside.
Casapueblo found himself short of room as Wootton Verni and Sunway went on in the closing strides, with Mickael Barzalona briefly forced to stop riding. Wootton Verni held on by a neck from Sunway, with three quarters of a length back to Casapueblo.
