Tribalist completed the G3 Prix Edmond Blanc and G2 Prix du Muguet double for a second consecutive year with another resolute front-running performance at Saint-Cloud, France, on Wednesday, 1 May.
Seeking a seventh win at the course, the Andre Fabre-trained five-year-old adopted his usual position at the head of affairs and strode on into a length and a half lead over Anthorus.
Tribalist continued to dictate and appeared to have his four rivals in trouble when Mickael Barzalona kicked for home just inside the final quarter-mile.
Dolayli and Marhaba Ya Sanafi closed on Tribalist inside the final furlong but the Farhh entire kept finding to cross the line a neck in front.
Louise Benard of Godolphin said: “Tribalist had to battle today and did very well. Mickael said that he was quite keen coming into the straight and looked ready to attack.
“His morning rider Johann [Hervé] has done an amazing job with Tribalist because he is a horse who you need to be very gentle with.
“It’s great to get another victory at Saint-Cloud and I don’t think a horse has won both the Edmond Blanc and Muguet twice before.”
