Godolphin trainer Kiaran McLaughlin has described Frosted's 14-and-a-quarter-length demolition job in Saturday's G1 Met Mile at Belmont Park as "one of the biggest days in my career."
The four-year-old, having his first outing since a creditable fifth in the G1 Dubai World Cup in March, blitzed a field of top milers in Stakes record time of 1min 32.73secs on one of New York's showcase racedays.
"It was simply unbelievable," McLaughlin said. "You never expect to win any race by 14 and a quarter lengths, and certainly never a race as important as the Met Mile.
"To win like that, it left me speechless. Wow. We have always known Frosted to be a special horse. He was second in the Belmont, over a mile and a half, and now he beats top milers like that. It is incredible.
"The crowd in the grandstand were clapping him a long way from the finish as he galloped clear. I am still soaking it all up. I am so happy for His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, Godolphin, and all our team here in the States.
"Our team have done a great job with Frosted. My brother Neal was with him all that time in Dubai, and the horse has come back better than ever," McLaughlin said.
The trainer said he would now study Frosted's form sheet before mapping out a programme that will lead to his main objective, the G1 Breeders' Cup Classic in November.
"He has come here off a break of nearly three months, and when he won (the G2 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2) at Meydan in February, he had not run for over three months.
"It makes you think," he added.
McLaughlin will weigh up the options before selecting a target for Frosted at Saratoga in August.
Another significant win for Team Godolphin USA was that of Kareena in the Listed Jersey Girl Stakes, over six furlongs, at Belmont on Friday. It was her second win from three starts.
