Scottish finished a clear third on his seasonal and Godolphin debut in the G3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes over a mile and a quarter at Sandown Park, UK, on the evening of Thursday, May 26.

The four-year-old, partnered by William Buick, broke well and led early before settling a close second behind the pace-setting Intilaaq. Scottish challenged in the straight and took a narrow lead at the quarter-mile pole before being headed with just over a furlong left.

The son of Teofilo kept on to be third of the seven runners, four and three quarter lengths behind the winner Time Test, and five lengths ahead of the fourth Not So Sleepy. The winning time was fast at 2m 6.18s on going officially described as good to firm, good in places.

Charlie Appleby, trainer of Scottish, commented: "I was very pleased with that performance and William was delighted with the run.

"Scottish will be very competitive in Europe over a mile and a quarter which I am pretty confident is his trip.

"This was a pleasing first run for us. We will regroup and consider all possibilities."
