Exciting two-year-old colt Loxley steps up to G1 level for the Racing Post Trophy over a mile at Doncaster, UK, on Saturday, October 28.

The son of New Approach was supplemented for the final G1 of the British season after dead-heating on his debut in a nine-furlong novice race at Goodwood on October 15, when he ran on strongly after meeting trouble in running to join Istanbul Sultan near the line.

Loxley, with William Buick in the saddle again, faces 11 other juveniles including G1 Vincent O'Brien National Stakes winner Verbal Dexterity and G2 Beresford Stakes scorer Saxon Warrior.

His trainer Charlie Appleby commented: “Loxley learned a lot at Goodwood and has come on for that run.

“A drop back to a mile is not a concern and he has ticked every box going into this race, so we felt that he deserved a chance at this level before the end of the season.”
