Maftool (Saeed bin Suroor) features among a strong team of Godolphin contenders for this week's Dubai World Cup Carnival fixture at Meydan, UAE, on Thursday, February 12.

The three-year-old will be partnered by Paul Hanagan in the Group Three UAE 2000 Guineas on dirt. Although Maftool runs for Godolphin, the colt is owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum whose Shadwell Stable retains Hanagan as first jockey.

Maftool ran a promising third in the Guineas trial at Meydan on January 15 when partnered by Bin Suroor's stable jockey James Doyle, the leading rider at the Carnival this season.

A trio of Godolphin entries for the Group Three Firebreak Stakes over a mile on dirt includes Be Ready (Saeed bin Suroor), who has also been entered in a nine-furlong turf handicap on the card alongside Vancouverite (Charlie Appleby).
