Photo-finish goes the right way for Proxy in Oaklawn Handicap

Proxy avenged his narrow defeat at Santa Anita last month as he flew home to pip Last Samurai and Stilleto Boy in Saturday’s G2 Oaklawn Handicap.
Only a neck had separated Stilleto Boy and Proxy in the Santa Anita Handicap but the Godolphin homebred produced another storming run to get up on the line, adding to his previous Graded win in November’s G1 Clark Stakes. The Breeders’ Cup Classic remains the end-of-season target for the Tapit homebred.

Adayar himself looks set to return to action in the G3 Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown Park this Friday, when his rivals may include his Champion Stakes conqueror Bay Bridge. G3 Zetland Stakes winner Flying Honours could also look to advertise his Derby prospects on the same fixture.
