King Of Conquest opened up new options over a mile and a half as he narrowly missed out on second in the G3 St Simon Stakes at Newmarket, UK, on Friday, 3 November.
The Charlie Appleby-trained four-year-old, a Listed winner over 10 furlongs at Goodwood earlier in the season, soon settled in a close fourth in a tightly bunched field.
Having travelled smoothly into the race, King Of Conquest challenged for the lead alongside Hamish, Al Qareem and Max Vega over a furlong from home as all four horses looked to hold chances.
Hamish kicked on inside the final furlong, with King Of Conquest rallying strongly for Daniel Tudhope in the closing strides. Only a nose separated Al Qareem and King Of Conquest at the line as the duo finished a length and three-quarters behind Hamish.
