Safety Check returns to Pattern company in the Group Two Al Fahidi Fort Sponsored By Gulf News over seven furlongs on turf at Meydan, UAE, on Thursday, January 22.

The Charlie Appleby-trained four-year-old stormed to a clear success by two and three quarter lengths in a handicap over the same course and distance on January 8.

The Dubawi colt captured two handicaps over seven furlongs in Britain last year, including when getting up on the line to prevail by a head in a valuable contest at Ascot in September.

Safety Check made three appearances, all on Tapeta, at the 2014 Dubai World Cup Carnival and was fourth in the Group Three UAE 2000 Guineas Sponsored by Al Tayer Motors over a mile.

Charlie Appleby commented: "Safety Check won nicely last time and is rated 110 now so we decided to dip our toe back into Group company.

"Seven furlongs is his best trip and he loves quick turf. He has matured with age and is enjoying life at the moment. Hopefully, he is going to be competitive."

William Buick rides Safety Check, who faces nine rivals from stall two including last year's winner and Group One Jebel Hatta Sponsored By Emirates Airline third Anaerobio, South African Grade One runner-up Red Ray and Irish Group Three second Eastern Rules.

Grazalema won the Al Fahidi Fort for Godolphin in 2000.
